A HUGE challenge after you leave the structure of rigid and traditional boss vs employee accountability is who do you be accountable to? I share how I’ve leveraged accountability to keep forward movement on my goals. I also share what hasn’t worked for myself and others. Day 7 of 28.
Think about the accountability you have in a day. You go into work, check in, do your job, have meetings or check-in’s by a boss rinse and repeat right? Well when you are doing your own thing you don’t have that. You have to find the way to stay motivated. You have to build the accountability in with systems or people.
I’ve met an awesome gal that I speak to regularly. She and I chat about what we are working on, and what we push forward with. Our relationship started at a high performance job where we both had to get a craptastic amount of stuff done. We did it, and we built a system of 5 min chats to vent, and to celebrate 2 things we did well and 1 thing to work on the next day.
This relationship has allowed me to continue to push myself, while helping her grow. Like my goal setting group we aren’t working on the same goals, but we understand where the other person wants to be, and ask regularly how that’s going. We also notice when things aren’t happening, and encourage each other to get back on track.
